The Memphis Alumni Chapter has a long and illustrious history with the NAACP, most importantly with the Memphis area chapter. The local NAACP Freedom House (headquarter building) is named in honor of Jesse H. Turner, Sr. Brother Turner, long time president of the local NAACP chapter, was life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and past Polemarch of the Memphis Alumni Chapter. His life long dedication to the struggle for the freedom and equality of all men was only equaled by his love and dedication to Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Memphis Alumni Chapter is the only “fraternity” in the Memphis area to continuously support the NAACP Freedom Fund Gala. For the last 15 years, the Memphis Alumni Chapter has been the first to manage the telephones for the Memphis NAACP annual Radio Thon Membership Drive.
